I recently just graduated from Mercyhurst University in Erie Pennsylvania after studying Graphic Design for four years. I was working as a Research Assistnat for the 3D Professor and I was also apart of the AdPro club (our schools Graphic Design club). Throughout the four years, I was consistently on the Dean's List and was in the Honors Program up until my last year.
I am originally from Rochester New York but spend just about as much time there as I do up in the Adirondacks where my family has a camp in the small town of Eagle Bay. My Senior Thesis was inspired by that area, but I've always enjoyed nature. Its so inspiring and I always take it into account when I use clay, take photos, and even with design work.
During my last year at Mercyhurst I created my Senior Thesis which consisted of photos taken in the Adirondacks and then hand-built frames made out of clay and pine branches. It took a lot of brainstorming and effort to get the final product but I was lucky enough to have an amazing mentor throughout it all and personal drive to create something meaningful and beautiful.
To the left is the postcard that a fellow student and I created for the opening show. There were in total ten seniors who were apart of the show and we had to make sure that everyone was equally included in the card. As a group, we came up with the title "Behind Our Eyes" because after discussing each of our works we realized that individually we all wanted to show something that was important to us and that was through our personal perspective. The card is the persons eye next to a clip of their work, and no two things were the same. Overall the show was a complete success and everyone truly enjoyed showing their work and observing others.
